Sofia’s nightlife is divided into discos for dancing, flash nightclubs for watching and occasionally dancing, trendy bars with DJ music after 10pm, strip clubs and the latest craze, piano bars. Most discos have different music every night of the week, though some are strictly ‘chalga’ a strange mix of folk and disco music found throughout the Balkans and considered down-market by educated Bulgarians. Strip clubs are plentiful and are to be found in the vicinity of the large hotels, but beware - not all are reputable.
